Demonstration Day: Demonstration Day is an event held bi-annually by Logan City Skate Around. The aim of these days are to allow the skaters to perform their routines without the nerves and pressure of competition for their friends, family and any interested members of the public. These days also allow our skaters within the ‘Introduction to Artistic Skating’ program an opportunity to perform in preparation for competition in the future.
Occasionally, Demonstration Day is run at venues other than our base rink, or with other invited clubs.
Club testing: Testing is held once annually, usually associated with one of the Demonstration Days. The club developed the testing program with the aim of assisting the skaters to develop and achieve short term goals as well as preparing them for their involvement in the Skate Australia testing program. There are four levels of Club Testing: Introductory, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Skaters receive an appropriately coloured medal on the successful completion of each testing level.
Intraclub ‘fun’ competitions: Another initiative usually held in conjunction with the Demonstration Days. These can include Choreography competitions, where the skaters are given pieces of music to ‘make up their own routine’, or where the skaters are randomly assigned groups and have to use teamwork to choreograph a program together. It may also include events such as ‘funny figures’, ‘pick a partner dance’ or ‘on the spot artistry’. |

Logan City Skate Around has developed and introduced some initiatives which are unique to our club. These initiatives are designed to assist the skaters in their early level development of techniques, performance, artistry, teamwork, creativity, goal setting and confidence. They include: Demonstration Day, Club Testing and Intraclub ‘fun’ competitions. |
